The GSESC inaugural "Cookie Cruise" was one of the incentives for Girls who were council's top cookie sellers. This year, GSESC had 25 Girls who sold 3000 + boxes of cookies which qualified them for this incentiv. Eleven of those Girl Scouts chose the Cookie Cruise. Those who did not choose the cruise chose a Canon camera starter kit.
Ports of Call on the 5 day cruise were Nassau and Half Moon Cay. The Cookie Cruise took place on Carnival Magic departing from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Favorite memories for the girls were the "woo-woo table" and the Build a Bear Workshop. "But," the girls we interviewed said if they had to pick their favorite things they would also list, "swimming, tubing, sliding, dancing, eating, laughing, the comedy show's and just being on a cruise!" This was a first time cruise for many of the girls (some as young as six). Of course, the girls were deeply engaged in comparing strategies and ideas on how to rise to the top of this upcoming year's cookie sale and come back on another cruise!
GSESC staff and the Girls' parents chaperoned.
