 The honorees for the Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina’s 2014 Mary Dean Brewer Women of Distinction event March 20, 2014, at SiMT in Florence, SC. have been announced.

This event celebrates women from our 21 county service area, who make strides within their professional and personal lives, share and support efforts in the community and offer girls and young women an example of what they, too, can achieve.

Each year GSESC asks individuals, businesses or community organizations to submit nominations for one or more adults, focusing on their achievements, challenges experienced, leadership qualities, impact on the community, special talents and expertise, and individual endeavors. The nominee must have been involved in Girl Scouts as a girl or an adult. Letters of reference are encouraged.

Seven award recipients were chosen by a volunteer committee naming Honorees:

Marie Carter  of Elliott, SC – Retired Librarian

Trisha Caulder of Florence, SC – Retired Educator 

Dr. Janet Sallas Crowe of Goose Creek, SC – Veterinarian, Creekside Veterinary Clinic

Jill H. Lewis of Florence, SC – Vice President of Institutional Advancement & Development, Florence-Darlington Technical College

Debbie W. Hyler of Florence, SC – Executive Director, The School Foundation

Lois Ruggiero of Charleston, SC – Director Lower School, Ashley Hall School

*Posthumous Lifetime Achievement:  Blanche Turner Lawless of Myrtle Beach, SC

Tickets for the event are $60 and are available in advance by calling (843) 669-5174 or visiting Registered Girl Scout adults may purchase tickets for $40.
